The Health & Safety Management Group originally began in 1991.  The company owned and operated by Betty McDonald, was first registered as McDonald & Associates as a sole proprietorship servicing all sectors such as the City of Scarborough and the Durham Boards of Education, Manufacturing, Construction, Concrete Plants, Pits and Quarries in the province of Ontario.

In 1995 the company became incorporated under the name of B. McDonald & Associates Ltd.  The focus was Occupational Health and Safety Program Development, Health and Safety Training and WSIB Consultation.  There was as well as the owner, one full time and one part time contract consultant and a full time Office Administrator.

In March 2004, B. McDonald & Associates Ltd. began operating as The Health & Safety Management Group. In July 2004 B. McDonald & Associates Ltd. purchased Corporate Training Solutions.  In August 2005, Corporate Training Solutions was registered to operate as Corporate Training Solutions, a Division of The Health and Safety Management Group. 

As of September 2005 Corporate Training Solutions operates as The Health and Safety Management Group. 

The new acquisition brought to the group a Health and Safety Training Arm which includes a Fire Alarm Technology course. It is a CFAA requirement to meet the requirements of the Course to become an authorized Canadian Fire Alarm Technician.
